We have been made aware of health care and dental care availability to our tribal members through Native American Lifelines in Baltimore. We attended the MCIA meeting on October 1st and although the Commissioners were not there to hold an official meeting, Kerry Hawk Lessard, Executive Director of Native American Lifelines in Baltimore, MD informed our community of healthcare, dental care and many other opportunities available to our tribal community.
The following are available at no charge or minimum charge (depending on services):
Health Care-routine and preventative -Completely Covered
Dental Care-cleanings, extractions, fillings, bridges, partials, and root canals at no charge and $300-$400 for a complete set of dentures
Mental Health Care-Completely Covered
Geneticist testing
Vision Services including eye exams, lenses and glasses are completely covered at no charge.
Durable medical equipment-Hospital beds, bedside commodes, diabetic supplies, diabetic shoes, batteries for hearing aides, Compression stockings, Adult depends, ensure, etc are completely covered.
Lifelines can assist you with paying for co-pays for medicine and medical treatment that you couldn't otherwise afford.
Lifelines will pay for you to take an Uber or a Lift to the doctor, dental, mental health, or ER.
We have also started the discussions of having medical buses come down to our community for medical services and even FREE Mammograms, etc. There so many services I may be missing out on some of them.
You must be enrolled and provide that information to Lifelines. If you are not enrolled, additional steps can be taken. You will have to do an initial intake and assigned a case worker
and be enrolled with Lifelines, so that you may receive these benefits. If you are not enrolled, but would like to take advantage of these services, please email Chief Jesse Swann at [email protected] or the Clan Mothers at [email protected].
We have begun to work with Kerry to begin the process to put together a MOU (memorandum of understanding), so that we can collect our own information for the Piscataway as part of this incentive.
